In myth, Apollo and Artemis were born on Delos. In history, it was the religious heart of the Aegean and later a free port packed with merchants' houses — which is why its mosaics are so rich. Today the whole island is an archaeological site, listed by UNESCO in 1990, with no overnight stays.

Naoussa's fishing harbour, long sandy beaches and Parikia's old town. Doable in a day on the morning and evening boats, nicer with one night.
The Portara — the giant marble doorway of an unfinished temple — at the harbour, mountain villages inland and some of the longest beaches in the Cyclades.
Uninhabited Rhenia lies just west of Delos. It has no facilities and some of the clearest water around Mykonos, and it is reached only by boat: excursion boats that combine Delos and a swim stop, or private charters from Ornos Bay.
The monastery of Panagia Tourliani, then lunch on the village square. 15 minutes by car or bus from the Old Port.

Panormos, Agios Sostis and Kiki's Tavern on a calm day, then Ftelia — the island before tourism.
Wild beachesStrong north wind in July and August can cancel small boats to Delos and Rhenia and delay ferries. Book your boat day early in your stay so you can reschedule.
The boat and the site are paid separately. Buy the boat at the Old Port kiosk or from an agent; the €20 site ticket at the entrance.
Note the return time before you land on any island — missing the last ferry means an unplanned night.
Delos. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site 30–40 minutes by boat from the Old Port, with temples, mosaics and the famous lions. Go on a morning boat, budget about €25 for the return boat and €20 for the site (reduced €10), and allow three to four hours on the island.
Yes. Fast ferries from the New Port take about 30 minutes, so you can leave in the morning and return in the evening. Visit the church of Panagia Evangelistria near the port, then rent a car or join a tour to see the marble villages. Check return times before you go.
Both are possible on the first morning and last evening ferries — about an hour to Paros and 75 minutes to Naxos — but they make long days with little time ashore. They are much better as overnight stops on an island-hopping route. Check schedules and keep a buffer for wind.
